As we continue to embrace the arts as a means of economic revitalization in our historic community, we are thrilled to announce the installation of a stunning new sculpture right outside our new office at 1401 Duke Street. Titled "David, the Tower of Strength," this piece is a visual masterpiece and a poignant tribute to friendship, resilience, and love.
Created by the renowned sculptor Stephen Kishel, the sculpture "David, the Tower of Strength" is a heartfelt tribute to his cherished friend, David, whose influence profoundly shaped Kishel's life. This masterwork is steeped in nostalgia and emotion, born from a poignant journey that began when Kishel was merely 17 years old.
That journey unfolded across the landscapes of Europe over six weeks, a transformative odyssey that deepened their bond. At the heart of this adventure was a desire to reconnect with his high school sweetheart, who had recently relocated to Germany with her family, igniting a passion within him that transcends time.
With creativity and determination, Kishel crafted dozens of sculptures during that period, culminating in his first solo sale, providing him the funds to see his girlfriend. Now, over half a century later, she remains his steadfast partner. The sculpture is an artistic achievement and a powerful testament to the enduring strength of friendship and love. The sculpture itself embodies the strength and stability that Kishel associates with his friend. Standing tall and proud, "David" serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds of friendship, the strength that can be found in our connections with others, and the astonishing power of love.
